Biovoxel Typodont Jaw

  • Fixable in Biovoxel/ KaVo/ Frasaco/ Nissin phantoms
  • Replaceable teeth
  • Real anatomy (also roots)
  • Teeth are fixed and released with screws
  • Soft, removable gums
  • The model includes 1 set of teeth (1x Upper Jaw + 1x Lower Jaw) + interchangeable gingiva (1x Maxilla + 1x Mandible) or can be ordered separatedly- only maxilla or mandible

The regular variant is best suited for routine tooth preparation, endodontic procedures, and prosthetic exercises. The teeth are more securely positioned, providing greater stability during drilling, and allowing more natural use of matrices, wedges, and clamps.

The periodontal variant features simulated bone recession, resulting in greater root exposure. This design makes it ideal for practicing gingival scaling and root planing, as the root surfaces are more accessible and realistic for periodontal training.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE

The teeth loosening/ removal

The teeth are loosened with internal mini screws, which are visible when viewed from the back of the model.

  • To loosen the teeth please use the supplied 1.5mm Allen key.
  • When loosening, just turn the screw 3-4 times to the left – do not unscrew it all the way – it is not necessary or advisable.
  • Remove the tooth by hand

Inserting the teeth

  • Insert the tooth into the alveolus.
  • Push the tooth firmly in the occlusal direction until it is fully seated. You may use your finger, or a hard surface (e.g. gently pressing against a table or solid instrument).

Fix the Tooth with the Screw

  • Once the tooth is fully seated, take a 1.5 mm Allen key.
  • Insert the Allen key and turn it to the right (clockwise) to screw in the internal screw.

Final Tightening

  • As soon as you feel the screw touch the tooth, stop tightening.
  • Do not apply excessive force. The tooth should feel firm and stable and should not move.

⚠️ IMPORTANT NOTICE- Inserting the Biovoxel EndoTooth Model into the Typodont

Tighten the EndoTooth very gently. Turn the screw only until you feel the first slight resistance.
At that point:

  • Check the tooth stability by hand.
  • If the tooth is stable, do not tighten further. Overtightening may cause the root to break.

Replacing the Gingiva

  • Remove all the teeth from the model (follow the instructions above “the teeth removal”).
  • Take out the gum gingiva.
  • Place the new gum gingiva onto the alveolus.
  • Reattach the teeth.

Inserting into the Box

  • Before placing the typodont jaws into the storage box, make sure they are oriented correctly. The jaws must be inserted with the anterior (front) teeth facing upward.
  • This orientation ensures that the jaws are not damaged inside the box and provides the most stable positioning during storage. Incorrect placement may lead to unnecessary wear, or instability of the typodont jaws inside the box.
